Experience the Healing Power of Gratitude

It has been said that the greatest cause of human suffering is the belief that things should be different than what they are.

We all have our own personal perspectives about what we want and how things should be. When our expectations are not met in the way we want or within the desired timeframe, we may experience frustration, disappointment or even despair. More significantly, we may continue to resist what is because it does not align with our expectations and desires.

Guidance tells us to be mindful of what we resist, because what we resist persists. Our intense focus on what we don’t want alters our energy field, making us a magnet for other similar experiences. Yet in every moment, we have the opportunity to release our judgments and expectation and just allow life to be what it is.

Cultivating a state of gratitude can help bring us into a place peace and non-resistance. This is a way of being that enables us to appreciate the many gifts in our lives and the many things that bring us Joy. This, in turn, can help us quiet our mind and loosen the grip of our judgments and beliefs. From this higher vibrational state, it also becomes easier to notice and attract things and experiences into our lives that are in alignment with this state of being.

Some steps you can take to cultivate a sense of gratitude include:

  • Disconnect from negative self-talk and judgments regarding current circumstances. If you find yourself mired in thoughts regarding your disappointments or concerns, shift your focus to return to a state of Peace. It can be helpful to engage in any kind of activity that can bring you back to stillness. For some, this may include doing some yoga, meditating, listening to some relaxing music, spending time in nature or taking some time to engage with a pet.

  • Keep a list or journal of things you are grateful for. This helps you focus on the many aspects of your life experience for which you give thanks. Over time, you may become more aware of things you appreciate that are not always top of mind, deepening your state of gratitude.

  • Remember that you are an infinite being having a human experience. When you know yourself as the eternal being you are, you can view what is unfolding in your life through this broader perspective. This is just one of your many incarnations. It is not a one and done so take a deep breath and begin to just go with the flow of what is.

  • Work with the energy of Divine Gratitude. In every moment, we have the choice to resist what is happening in our lives or to operate from a place of peace and non-judgment. You can invite the energy of Divine Gratitude to assist you in dealing with your life circumstances with more ease and grace. Divine Gratitude can help you recognize the many gifts you have received in your life and the many things that bring you Joy.
